Gaza City – The Irada Program for Rehabilitation and Vocational Training is implementing a new project to empower people with disabilities to access different job markets.
Human Appeal International (HPI), UK, generously funds the new project and Irada on behalf of the Islamic University of Gaza’s Deanship of Community Service and Continuous Education (IUG-CSCE) implements it.
On February 17th, Imad Al-Haddad, the HPI Gaza office manager, and Said Al-Ghorra, dean of CSCE, signed the project agreement. Ali Al-Nazli, the Irada president of board, and Imad Almassri, the Irada program manager, also attended the signing ceremony.
“We very much appreciate what Human Appeal International has provided to our deanship,” said Al-Ghorra, PhD. “This contribution proves significant in advancing our work in the service of different groups in our society. Our cooperation as well as that between HPI and civil society organizations should continue to be, so people with disability are better integrated.”
“The support we receive from HPI is commendable,” said Al-Nazli. “It gives hope that humanitarian efforts pave the way for Palestinians and especially people with disability to be more resilient. Our program is the manifestation of IUG’s belief in its social responsibility; one that dictates caring for people with disability in the society of Gaza.
Al-Haddad also praised the generous support of his headquarter office in the UK. “Our organization aims to integrate people with disability,” he said. “We wish to continuously improve their skills, so they can more actively participate in and contribute to their society.
The new project will train 85 people with disability, and the products of this training will then be distributed to poor families in the Gaza Strip.
