Gaza city — The Irada program deputy director for fundraising and public relations, Manal Hasna, welcomed a medical delegation from Qatar Hamad Medical Corporation headed by Dr. Wafa Al Yazeedi.
During her welcoming, Hasna commended the generosity of Qatari support to the Palestinian people. She then took the delegation on a tour of the Irada program, its workshops and the products exhibited there, which were produced by people with disabilities targeted by the program.
The Qatari visitors were briefed on the mission and objectives of the program. Hasna spoke to them about the major successes illustrated by better integration of people with disabilities through training and rehabilitation.
“Since the program was launched in 2012, it has trained more than 700 people with disabilities,” Hasna said. “Our target group received training in a variety of professional and academic fields.”
“Many of the individuals we had trained were supported both in their search for a job and in their want of starting their own business,” Hasna added. “We secured funds from international organizations interested in promoting the role of people with disabilities in their societies.”
At the end of the visit, Dr. Wafa, head of the Qatari delegation, praised the importance and quality of the work of Irada as it engages people with disabilities in a beneficial way, not only to them but also to the national discourse of development. This way, the delegation said, is an excellent one, and they expressed their wish for starting a similar program in Qatar and elsewhere.
