Gaza City – Irada has launched a training project benefiting 85 people with disability in the Gaza Strip. The project is funded by Human Appeal, UK.

Participants in the project will receive training in carpentry and woodcarving,  Manufacturing Aluminum products, bookbinding & gift box, and furniture painting and upholstery. Specialists, one of who is  graduated of Irada’s training projects, will lead the training in these fields.

“I am very happy to participate in this project,” Taghreed Abu Hatab, a participant in the new project who suffers from hemiplegia. “It provides to me the attention and hope of which marginalized groups like PwD’s typically are deprived. Through my participation, I expect to gain valuable skills to improve my competitiveness in the job market.”

“Improving the access of PwD’s to the labor  market is the goal of our new project,” said Manal Hasna, Irada program deputy  director for public relations and fundraising. “By now the first phase of the project is completed; we have interviewed more than 169 applicants and diagnosed their disabilities before we finally selected 85 participants. The second phase, beginning right now, will equip them with the skills and experiences necessary for successful competition in the labor market.”
