Gaza City – Irada Program has launched Youth Employment Creation in Gaza Strip project targeting people with disability. The project is funded by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), supervised by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor.
50 PwD’s have been medically diagnosed and interviewed before admission into the new project. They will be trained in carpentry and woodcarving, upholstery and furniture painting, and aluminum-product manufacturing.
“I am very excited about joining this project,” Hanya Shaath, suffering from developmental dysplasia upon birth, says. “I hope to gain the skills and experiences necessary for starting up my own business.”
“The project is aimed at achieving better socioeconomic integration of PwD’s into their communities,” says Tareq Al-Habbash, Director Deputy for Training . “There is not enough opportunities for addressing their needs and developing their skills. This is the mission of our new project.”
